Ivan Mauger to ride at 2012 HBBB
Mauger will run demonstration laps on classic Jawa speedway machines, as well as some of Jack Young's championship-winning bikes from the 1950s, including a Mitchell JAP (with which Young won the World Speedway Championship in 1951) and a rare British-built AJW that Young originally campaigned domestically.
Mauger's appearance will be part of Saturday evening's 'IMR Speedway Spectacular'. Kicking off at 4:30pm, the Spectacular will also feature insanely fast period sidecars, as well as solos. The Speedway track will also be in action across both April 7 and 8 of the big HBBB weekend.
The speedway action is just one part of a 2012 HBBB that's looking set to be the biggest Bonanza so far. A staggering 490 bikes are already registered, with a number of late sign-ons expected on Easter Saturday.
In addition to all the track action - on all the Broadford tracks - the 2012 HBBB will also feature a Gala Dinner on Saturday night, where Mauger, as well as Honda MX GP International Jeff Leisk, and UK Honda Endurance Road Racer and Isle of Man winner Charlie Williams will be interviewed. Tickets are being snapped up fast, and organisers are surprised at some of the 'names' appearing in the guest lists.
The Gala is your chance to meet some of Australia's motorcycling greats in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy a meal from renowned Goulburn Valley Chef Bernard Hayes, along with wines by Tahbilk and other drinks available at bar prices. Seats were still available at time of this article being uploaded, with tickets on sale at the State Motorcycle Sport Complex's front office and sign on area.
These special events are an added bonus to the sights, sounds and special friendships to found over the HBBB weekend. For all the latest information on the 2012 Honda Broadford Bonanza, make sure to visit the specific HBBB website - www.ma.org.au/hbbb
