Indian introduces the Chief 'Dark Horse'
Using the Chief Classic as a starting point, the Chief Dark Horse is a feast of matt black - Thunder Black Smoke in Indian parlance - with only a flash of chrome to break up the darkness. Indian calls the result "one of the most confident silhouettes on the market" with an "aggressive pose".
Mechanical spec is as per the Chief Classic, meaning a 11ci ThunderStroke v-twin, 6-speed constant mesh transmission and Chief Classic suspension (46mm tele fork front, monoshock rear, 119mm travel front, 94mm travel rear), but the Dark Horse does add the cast alloy wheels from the Chieftain/Roadmaster, which results in the new model not only being the lightest in the Chief series (at 341kg), but also the quickest model in the locally-available Chief lineup.
Standard specification includes keyless ignition, electronic cruise control, dual exhaust system, ABS brakes, 21-litre fuel tank and a 660mm solo seat. Deletions from the Chief Classic for Dark Horse spec include the analogue fuel gauge, auxiliary driving lights and pillion seat, but the latter (with pillion pegs or foot boards) is optionally available through the Genuine Indian Motorcycle Accessory range.
If the standard spec isn't "dark" enough for you, there is a range of unique Dark Horse accessories available to suit, including black mudguard trim, slip-on exhaust with black heat shields and exhaust tips, ape hanger handlebars, high flow air cleaners and mudguard struts.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is priced at $26,995 ride away, with delivery expected in most Indian Motorcycle dealerships shortly after you read this.
