Hurley & Burkhart Win N.Z. Supercross
Hurley, 32, adds the Pro Open Supercross title to his successful summer - having earlier won the New Zealand Motocross Championship - while Burkhart took out the Pro Lites class. On a Suzuki RM-Z450, Hurley ended his dominant season in style at Wanganui, leading home team-mate Scott Columb in a Suzuki 1-2 finish for the evening and the championship. Burkhart was too good in Pro Lites, taking his Suzuki RM-Z250 to top spot and wrapping up the championship, with Belgian Columb making the most of his double duty to finish second.
"It's just fantastic to have Team Suzuki finish 1-2 in both the premier classes," Hurley said. "Our results speak for themselves; the Suzuki RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 have been really strong packages throughout the championship… Personally, going over to Australia with the New Zealand Motocross and Supercross championships is the perfect preparation."
Hurley and Burkhart now turn their attention to the Australian off-road season, which they will contest with Team Shift Motul Suzuki.
