Honda MX history on show at 2012 HBBB
The celebration is a new addition to the HBBB for this year, and the groundswell of support for an idea to celebrate Honda's Motocross involvement in Australia has taken the organisers by surprise. As a recognition of the start of scrambling or motocross from the 1960s to the 1980s, a special display of all Honda Motocross models from 1973 to 1984 will be held in the newly finished Speedway shed at Broadford on Friday evening, and will feature an ultra-rare Honda Factory RC 500 and other equally rare and stunning Mugen Honda MX models.
The bikes will be accompanied with memorabilia lining the walls and stars from the past will be interviewed on the Good Friday evening. Ray Owen, Ronnie Dinsdale, Jack Pengelly, Keith Stacker, Rob Gordon, Murray Tainton, Bernie Ryan, Gary Flood, Neil Edney and a host of others will turn this into a full-on Motocross reunion! These legends of the sport have also donated a number of the machines and memorabilia items which will be on display.
The Good Friday evening MX celebration is open to registered HBBB participants, as well as public entrants who have pre-purchased a Saturday One-Day ticket ($25) to the 2012 HBBB.
This special event is an added bonus to the sights, sounds and special friendships to found over the weekend. With the 2012 HBBB set to be the biggest yet, you need to make sure you don't miss it!
The 2012 Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza takes place at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex, Broadford, over the Easter weekend, April 7 and 8. For all the latest HBBB information, visit the specific HBBB website - www.ma.org.au/hbbb.
