Harley veterans consigned for Shannons Sydney auction
This latest offering continues Shannons' rollout of important Harley-Davidson bikes that began last year. With the international desirability and collectability of many of the motorcycles on offer, Shannons expect many to take advantage of the recently-launched Online Bidding feature to pick up these bikes at the May 26 Sydney auction.
Amongst the Harleys consigned, the top pick is arguably the circa 1918 18S 500cc model with rare wickerwork sidecar. Both present in excellent condition, with the rare veteran combo expected to sell in the $20,000-$25,000 range.
A circa 1913 9B is another early Harley that's expected to sell well. The 575cc single presents in complete, but unrestored condition and carries a pre-auction estimate of $22,000-$26,000.
A rare, circa 1938 WLDR is in better condition, with this race-spec (as originally offered to enthusiasts for production racing), restored 750cc v-twin expected to sell for $16,000-$20,000.
Other significant Harleys of the six consigned for this auction include a circa 1920 model 20T 1000cc solo in complete, unrestored condition with a guiding range of $10,000-$15,000, while two early 1920s twins - a circa 1922 584cc model WJ and a circa 1924 model JE 1000cc - are each expected to bring $7,000-$10,000.
Shannons' recently-introduced Online Bidding feature will make its Sydney debut at this auction, after being offered as an option for bidders for the first time at May 5's Melbourne Autumn Classic Auction. With the positive take-up rate of online bidding, Shannons expect more buyers and potentially better prices for sellers as this becomes a preferred option in the future.
Shannons' Sydney Late Autumn Classic Auction will take place on Monday, May 26 at Shannons' Sydney auction rooms, 65 Reserve Road, St. Leonards, with the first lot crossing the blocks at 7:00pm.
