Harley-Davidson reveal ‘Fast Johnnie’ enthusiast collection
Celebrating America’s classic muscle car culture, as well as its own racing history, Harley-Davidson has announced new additions to their Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection for 2023, with three limited-edition versions of current models available under the banner of ‘Fast Johnnie’.

Available on the MY23 Low Rider ST, Street Glide ST and Road Glide ST, but limited to just 2,000 units of each globally, the Fast Johnnie trio are defined by a special paint and graphic treatment that’s common to all three performance models.
To a Celestial Blue base, bold race-style white stripes are added, taking in the fuel tank and panniers for all three models, as well as the sidecovers on the Street Glide ST and Road Glide ST, and the fairing on the Low Rider ST. On the fuel tank and front mudguard, ‘Harley-Davidson’ lettering is incorporated into the thinner outer stripe.

This treatment is inspired by the Mustangs, Camaros, Barracudas and Challengers that were the hottest cars of the 1960s and ‘70s, while perhaps the most direct inspiration for this finish is the ‘Yenko Super Car’ Chevrolet Camaro that was produced by Don Yenko Chevrolet of Pennsylvania in the late 1960s.

“The striping graphic effect is a powerful signal to the generation that came of age during this era, and is still impactful today,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director.
“The Celestial Blue base colour selected for Fast Johnnie recalls a popular tone from the muscle car era. For the graphic striping, we created a custom white colour formulated to authentically reflect the era, executed in a classic thin-wide-thin pattern on the sides and top of the bodywork. The look is a nod to pure Americana.”

In addition to the striping, each limited-edition also carries Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection identification on the rear mudguard, while the fuel tanks feature a stylised Bar & Shield logo on the offside and the cartoon of a helmeted pig with checkered flag on the nearside.
This cartoon image, which also appears on the Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle baggers that the factory currently races in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series, has history going back more than a century.

In 1920, Ray Weishaar, a Harley-Davidson racer and member of the factory’s “Wrecking Crew” adopted a piglet as the team’s mascot. Named ‘Johnnie,’ the pig was often carried by Weishaar on his victory lap, perched on the tank of his bike. This connection is believed to have inspired the “Hog” nickname applied to all things Harley-Davidson to this day.

Paint and graphics aside, each Fast Johnnie limited-edition is unchanged from the model it’s based on, so mechanical specs, tech features and all other elements of the Low Rider ST, Street Glide ST and Road Glide ST are unchanged.
All three models are powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine, the most powerful v-twin currently available in a factory model, with six-speed transmission and plenty of rider comfort and safety features.

Australian pricing for the Fast Johnnie models in the 2023 Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection starts at $40,845 for the Low Rider ST (a $3,850 premium), $51,895 for the Street Glide ST (a $4,400 premium) and $51,895 for the Road Glide ST (a $4,400 premium).
Of the 2,000 units of each model that will be produced, allocation for Australia and New Zealand was unconfirmed at time of writing, but is likely to be small, so contact your nearest Harley-Davidson dealer soon to secure yours.
