David Salvador secures World Supersport ride with Kawasaki for 2027

After some impressive results in the World Supersport 300 Championship and this year’s all-new World Sportbike Championship, David Salvador has landed a seat in the World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP) for 2027. The 23-year-old from Spain will join the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, but who he will replace – Jeremy Alcoba or Dominique Aegerter – had not been confirmed at time of writing.

Riding for Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI in the World Sportbike Championship (WorldSPB), Salvador was leading the championship after five of eight rounds, with two race wins and five other podiums. Salvador’s worst finish to date has been fourth, with a DNF at Aragon his only blemish.

The step up to the factory Kawasaki WorldSSP Team should be an easy transition for Salvador, as the Ninja ZX-6R 636 he’s riding in WorldSPB is broadly similar to the machine he’ll be on next year.

“I’m really happy to have this amazing opportunity,” Salvador enthused. “I’m sure it will be a winning project, based on the Ninja ZX-6R 636, a very competitive bike with great potential.

“I want to thank everyone who believed in me and made all this possible, starting with Kawasaki, which I’ll do my best to bring to the top. I know this is a big step in my career, and on the one hand I want the time to pass quickly so that I can start working on the exciting new project, but on the other hand my effort and focus remain on the Sportbike championship.”

Manuel Puccetti, Kawasaki WorldSSP Team Principal, welcomed Salvador to the Supersport team, adding he was proud to provide young riders in Kawasaki’s orbit with opportunities like this.

“David has proved to have real skill, with his performances on track only highlighting his talent, maturity, and race management abilities - characteristics that will serve him well in a higher and more challenging category like Supersport.

“I also want to underline the great work the Kawasaki teams are doing in the Sportbike categories, supporting and developing young riders who may, in future, form part of official Kawasaki teams, not only in Supersport, but also in Superbike.”
