Harley-Davidson announce 2023 Aus/NZ Dealer of the Year winners
Harley-Davidson Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) has announced their Dealer of the Year award winners for 2023. The annual awards, which recognise dealer excellence across a number of categories, have been won by the same handful of dealerships in recent years, but this time, a smaller dealership broke through to claim its first outright win.
Mackay Harley-Davidson was crowned the overall Dealer of the Year for 2023, beating out past winners like Morgan & Wacker in Brisbane and Road and Sport M/C in Hamilton, NZ. Established a little over 10 years ago, Mackay Harley-Davidson (26 Peel Street, Mackay) may be a newcomer compared to some other dealerships, but owner Scott Gralow has more than three decades’ experience in the motorcycle industry.
“We are honoured to receive this award and want to thank Harley-Davidson for recognising our team effort,” Gralow said. “2023 was an exceptional year for us, and this award is a testament to the advocacy and loyalty of our customers and local H.O.G. chapter.”
Winning the Dealer of the Year isn’t just about motorcycle sales, with other criteria, like sales of parts, accessories and apparel taken into account, plus qualitative measures, like service performance, commitment to training and customer satisfaction. Scores across these criteria are collated, with the overall Dealer of the Year (DotY) award going to the business with the highest score.
Sub-categories recognise Small/Compact, Medium and Large dealers. For 2023, DotY Small/Compact went to Mackay H-D, with DotY Medium going to Sunshine Coast H-D and Morgan & Wacker Brisbane winning DotY Large, making it a clean sweep for Queensland dealerships.
In addition to their overall DotY win, Mackey Harley-Davidson achieved ‘5 Star Dealer’ status, along with Harbour City Harley-Davidson (Gladstone, QLD), Road and Sport Motorcycles (Hamilton, NZ), Empire Harley-Davidson (Bendigo, VIC) and Bundaberg Harley-Davidson (Bundaberg, QLD).
Tenure awards were also given to long-term Harley-Davidson dealerships, including Sunshine Coast H-D and Hidden Valley H-D (20 years), Gold Coast H-D and Thomas Lee H-D (30 Years), and Harley-Heaven in Melbourne CBD, Dandenong and Ringwood (40 years).
“Our dealers are instrumental to the success of Harley-Davidson,” said Nigel Keough, Harley-Davidson ANZ Managing Director. “They are as much a part of the brand as our motorcycles and riders.
“To be titled ‘Dealer of the Year’ is an outstanding reflection of the staff providing the best service and customer experience that makes Harley-Davidson the premier brand that it is today. We are incredibly proud of our ANZ dealer network because all our dealers are characterised by a high degree of authenticity, friendliness and competence.”
