GEAR ON TEST - Ixon ‘RS Tempo Air’ gloves
Ixon ‘RS Tempo Air’ gloves
Tested by Zane Dobie
For the past two years, I’ve been rocking the same pair of gloves, both for the track and the road. There’s a reason for that and it’s nothing to do with being slack or tight-fisted.
I’ve had plenty of gloves in the past but have always struggled to find a pair that fit comfortably and, of course, properly. I have endured short finger holes which cause limited finger movement and poor-quality leather/synthetic materials that have made my hands too sweaty, hence why I have stayed with the same pair of gloves for so long.

However, those gloves have suffered the ravages of repeated use and seen the bitumen far too many times, so I’ve been looking for new gloves and finally found a pair that deliver the fit, comfort and quality I’ve been looking for – the RS Tempo Air from Ixon.
Heading out with the new Ixon gloves and hopes not too high, I spent a day breaking them in. Out of the packet, the flexibility of the RS Tempo Air was impressive, so they’ll only need a few more rides to be fully broken in.

The full goat leather construction features perforated sections on the tops of the fingers, wrist and back of the hand, so while these gloves can be worn year-round, they’re best suited for summer use. On test, the perforated leather worked well, stopping my hands from getting too sweaty, while the elasticated wrist with strap, and a separate strap fastening for the cuff, ensure a snug fit.
Safety features include hard knuckle protection, a long cuff, sidewall reinforcement on the little finger and a palm slider, so I’m confident these gloves will be able to break a fall.

After a few more rides, I’m sure the RS Tempo Air gloves will be broken in and more flexible than they are already. So sure, in fact, that I’ve already replaced my old worn gloves with these.
