FLSTF Fat Boy. Sept 06
Since its introduction, the Fat Boy has featured a brawny FL front end, a silver disc front wheel and a giant Hiawatha headlamp. Each is a styling element that defines the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy and each is retained on the 2007 model, but with a new twist. The headlamp is perched in front of a new chrome fork nacelle. The front wheel diameter is increased from 16 to 17 inches (40.64cm to 43.18cm) and the signature silver cast aluminium disc wheel is perforated with a series of "bullet holes" that instantly identify the 2007 Fat Boy. A matching 17 x 6-inch (15.24cm) silver bullet hole disc cast aluminium rear wheel now wears a wider, low-profile 200mm tyre that is revealed by a new chopped FL rear fender and the uncluttered lines of the Harley-Davidson Softail chassis.
The Fat Boy cockpit is richly appointed with a new two tone leather two-up that features a chrome medallion and a new valance trimmed with chrome "bullets" and leather lacing. The new leather tank strap is trimmed in the chrome bullets and lacing to match the seat. New, burley bare-knuckle risers clamp down a fat new 1.25-inch (3.18cm) diameter handlebar with internal wiring. The traditional Fat Bob fuel tank features a new triple-layer decal graphic that's matched with new graphics on the front and rear fenders. A new speedometer face adds a clock feature, a top-gear indicator light and new, brighter LED indicator lighting.
Twist the throttle and unleash a new level of Fat Boy performance, delivered by the new Twin Cam 96B V-Twin. Rigid-mounted in the Softail frame to keep the packaging tight, the Twin Cam 96B is equipped with internal counter-balance shafts that help provide a smooth and powerful ride.
The smooth running, balanced engine is mated to the new 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, with gear ratios designed specifically to match the torque curve of the Twin Cam 96B, and a tall sixth gear that drops engine rpm at highway cruising speeds. Clutch lever effort has been reduced by another 10 percent over the 17 per cent improvement from last year, making the clutch almost effortless. Finally, new mufflers on the chrome over/under shotgun dual exhaust system are tuned to enhance the lower sound frequencies for a more commanding exhaust tone. The Fat Boy powertrain is finished in black powdercoat with chrome covers.
The FLSTF Fat Boy is available in seven solid and four two-tone colour schemes. The Harley-Davidson Smart Security System, featuring new hands-free fob and auto arming/disarming is fitted as standard. The FLSTF Fat Boy will be priced from $28,995.
