Finke Desert Race. July 08
500 bike riders started the race, with GHR Honda rider Ben Grabham again challenged by local rider Ryan Branford. The track was treacherous after recent rain, with GHR rider Jason Hill taking out the prologue, with Grabham finishing 10th.
Hill lead the way on Day 1 on his Honda CRF450F, a position he held until the 170km mark when he crashed on a lip caused by buggies. He continued on to finish fifth outright, with Grabham holding a slim lead over Branford in first position. On the return race to Alice Springs, Grabham eventually eclipsed Branford by just 58 seconds after trailing for a number of legs.
Former footballer Tony Lockett competing for the first time finished 224th after starting in 444th position. Honda again dominated with dominant outright results and the most overall finishers.
