Final Countdown to 2012 Bonanza
Final preparations by riders, volunteers and organisers are underway for the event, which is set down for the Easter weekend 7-8 April, 2012.
A mix of new and familiar faces are amongst the staggering 490 bikes already registered for the 2012 instalment. As in past years, the HBBB organisers are anticipating a sign-on rush on Easter Saturday and have doubled the sign-on staff to manage demand.
Ahead of the track action and major displays on the Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Motocross Reunion evening for registered participants, starting at 6pm on Good Friday. This will be complemented by the launch of Roger Harvey's book 'Scrambling Downunder,' featuring lots of never-before-seen shots of the stars of the scrambling and motocross from 'back in the day'. The evening is an included treat for those who have signed on for the weekend, but access is also available for those who have pre-purchased a Saturday One-Day ticket ($25). A casual Fish and Chip dinner and drinks will be available.
The 2012 HBBB will feature a special celebration of Honda motocross machines from 1973 to 1984, which has been boosted by the addition of memorabilia and special guests from the Golden Era of Motocross, as a follow on to the Good Friday evening.
The main attraction of the 2012 HBBB will be the Gala Dinner on Saturday night, featuring interviews with Honda MX GP International Jeff Leisk, fifteen times World Speedway, Teams and Longtrack Champion Ivan Mauger and UK Honda Endurance Road Racer and Isle of Man winner Charlie Williams. Tickets are being snapped up fast, and organisers are surprised at some of the 'names' appearing in the guest lists.
The Gala is your chance to meet some of Australia's motorcycling greats in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy a meal from renowned Goulburn Valley Chef Bernard Hayes, along wines by Tahbilk and other drinks available at bar prices. Seats are still available, with tickets on sale at the State Motorcycle Sport Complex's front office and sign on area.
Saturday evening will also see the 'IMR Speedway Spectacular' spring to life from 4:30pm, featuring the insanely fast period sidecars as well as solos, while Ivan Mauger demonstrating Jack Young's Championship bikes will be an extra treat for speedway fans.
The 2012 Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza takes place at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex, Broadford, Victoria, this coming Easter weekend, April 7 - 8. For all the latest HBBB information, make sure to visit the dedicated HBBB website - www.ma.org.au/hbbb.
