FEATURE - 2022 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide
Of the four models in Harley-Davidson’s CVO lineup for 2022, the CVO Road Glide is one of three to carry over from last year with few changes. However, like the rest of the MY22 range, there are all-new paint options and fresh trim finishes on this year’s CVO Road Glide.

A modern-looking alternative to the CVO Street Glide, the CVO Road Glide is defined by its frame-mounted Shark Nose fairing that features slipstream venting to limit the effect of head buffeting from the smoked, bobbed windscreen. Fitted with twin Daymaker LED headlights (non-adaptive), this fairing is complemented with the ‘Fang’ lower front spoiler.
The CVO Road Glide also runs a 21-inch front wheel – the biggest on any MY22 Harley - as standard. Both the front and rear wheels are ‘Combo’ units that combine cast aluminium rims with thick laced spokes for a distinctive look without impacting TPMS function.

Finished in gloss black and contrast chrome as standard, these wheels are also available in denim black with contrast gloss black, as well as gloss black with a contrast smoked satin finish.
Due to the 21-inch front wheel, the 49mm dual bending valve front suspension has been retuned, offering 91mm of travel compared to 117mm on the CVO Street Glide. The rear suspension features adjustable preload and offers 54mm of travel.

Like the suspension, the CVO Road Glide’s running gear is carryover from last year’s model, with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 v-twin, six-speed Cruise Drive transmission and belt final drive. Power and torque maximums are the same as this year’s CVO Street Glide, at 79kW and 171Nm.
Braking consists of 300mm discs at each end (two up front), with 4-piston calipers at each end, too.

Standard trim and detailing includes the ‘Kahuna Collection’ of muffler end caps, rider footboards and pillion pegs, brake pedal cover and heated grips. There’s also a CVO badge and light on the fuel tank console.
The panniers offer a combined 68-litre (2.4 cubic feet) capacity and are of the same style as those fitted to the CVO Street Glide. And as the CVO Road Glide comes with the Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II sound system as standard, those panniers include speakers, too.

Three new colour options on the CVO Road Glide for 2022 start with Blue Steel, which is a subtle, single-tone finish, matched to a ‘scorched chrome’ engine treatment that includes the exhaust and Screamin’ Eagle Heavy Breather intake.
A much bolder option is Wicked Orange Pearl/Black Hole two-tone with Lightning Silver accents on the bodywork, hand-painted pinstripes and bright chrome on the engine.

Finally, there’s Envious Green with Black Hole Fade that’s the ‘flame’ option for the CVO Road Glide and also features scorched chrome engine treatment.
Essential measures and dimensions include 125mm ground clearance, fuel capacity of 22.7-litres (6 gallon) and a 680mm seat height.
Australian pricing for the 2022 CVO Road Glide starts at $58,750.
