DVD- Tales from the Roadside
Regardless of whether you're into custom choppers or not, this DVD has a lot to recommend it. Not only are Aussie custom bike builders like Big Joe Choppers, Custom Valley Choppers and South Coast Customs featured, but Inspire also features interviews with respected custom builders from the USA like Arlen & Cory Ness, Counts Kustoms, Wild Card Customs and Tempest Cycles.
As the title says, The Inspire DVD is all about inspiration - inspiration to create your own rolling piece of excellence by hearing the stories and seeing the creations of others. This isn't about who can create the most elaborate, expensive or ridiculous chopper, nor is it about making a "drama" out of custom bike building. Inspire is very real, with the builders given time to explain how they got into custom bike building, the ideas behind some of their creations, and the creativity and engineering skill required to turn those ideas into reality. That 'passion' we mentioned earlier is evident in all the builders featured, but best exemplified by John Denughes, who not only created a one-off custom in the form of the 'Skullster', but did it in between bouts of chemotherapy treatment. That's passion!
For Inspire's creator and director, John Dominic, it's been a big outlay of time, resources and money with more than a few dramas along the way, but the end result was worth it!
All the builders really got behind the concept and were generous with their time. South Coast Customs went so far as to supply a trailer for John to haul bikes and all the gear required for the DVD and calendar's production.
As well as the bikes and their builders, the Inspire DVD also looks at the legal issues surrounding custom bikes. The real eye opener on this is when Joe Camilleri from Big Joe Choppers shows just how much you have to butcher a beautiful custom chopper in order to make it road legal under our current ADRs.
The creation of the DVD has gone hand in hand with the development of the Inspire calendar, which features a very new, very different twist on the old "bikes 'n' babes" theme. Watch this space for more, as the calendar is due to be released soon.
For only $19.95 from selected bike stores, Inspire - Tales From The Roadside is a great Aussie product, a great source of inspiration and a great buy. Find your nearest retailer or buy a copy online at www.theinspiredvd.com
