Ducati previews 2020 Monster 1200 S
The ‘black on black’ livery combines gloss and matte black finishes to the frame, tank, exhaust silencers and wheels, with contrasting red detailing on the spokes and red contrast stitching on the seat.
Entering its 27th year on the market, the latest version of the Monster 1200 is powered by the familiar 1198cc Testastretta L-Twin, delivering 108kW at 9250rpm and 124Nm at 7750rpm.
A Ride by Wire throttle for the liquid-cooled engine is standard, with other standard features including Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Riding Mode and Power Mode.
The 1200 S adds the Ducati Quick Shift up-and-down quickshifter and upgrades the suspension to a 48mm Ohlins USD fork and Ohlins rear monoshock.
Lightweight 3-spoke wheels on the S help shave 2kg off the total dry weight for 185kg, with the brakes also upgraded to dual 330mm front discs with Brembo monobloc Evo M50 caipers,
Seat height is adjustable from 795mm to 820mm and a full-colour TFT instrument display is standard. The 1200 S also gets a Daytime Running Light, with the Ducati Multimedia System and anti-theft system optional.
Released in Europe with a 17,390 Euro starting price, Australian delivery of the 2020 Monster 1200 and 1200 S is expected before the end of this year, with local pricing to be revealed closer to local release.
