Ducati-powered sportscar to debut at Sydney Motorcycle Show

Designed purely for track use, the Spartan combines a 170hp 1198cc Ducati v-twin engine with a lightweight steel chassis and carbon fibre body that tips the scales at only 350kg. The vehicle's manufacturers claim this combination produces incredible acceleration - 0-100km/h in just 3 seconds.

Australian-designed and developed, the Spartan is a bare-bones roadster, stripped of roof and doors, with only a small windscreen sitting atop the carbon-fibre frame. Fitted out with high performance components, the Spartan was created to combine the 'at-one-with-the-machine' feel of a motorcycle and the stability of a sports car. Retail price for the limited-production machine will be $90,000.

One of the planned production run of 300 Spartan sports cars will be on display at the Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show, held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre this November 25-27. Given its two-wheel derived powerplant, event organisers expect the Spartan to be popular with visitors.

"The Spartan will definitely raise some eyebrows at the show," said Event Manager Mark Petersen.
"It's been seen in a very limited capacity prior to this and we're sure it will have visitors talking.
"We're proud to be showcasing such a unique Australian-designed and developed vehicle."

The Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show runs from Friday November 25 to Sunday November 27 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.
