Dean Ferris to join CDR Yamaha for 2016
The decision will see the 24-year-old compete in motocross and supercross events here in Australia as well as New Zealand, as part of the "Yamaha alliance" between Craig Dack's Australian outfit and the JCR Yamaha team in NZ, which is run by former MX Nats champ and MXGP competitor Josh Coppins.
Riding for the Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team in MXGP this year, Ferris scored some top ten moto finishes and ended the season eleventh overall, but couldn't replicate his 2013 form with Dixon Yamaha in MX2, where he won the Belgian round and scored six other podium finishes.
Ferris is looking forward to his return not only to Australia, but also the Yamaha brand where he has achieved his best results in the past.
"I have done three years in Europe and a season in the US and while I have enjoyed every moment of it, there is nothing like racing in Australia and living back at home in Kyogle.
"Working with the CDR Yamaha team and racing the YZ 450F is equally exciting. I first started my professional career on Yamaha as part of the Yamaha Junior development program back in 2007 and then had a great season with Dixon Yamaha in Europe in 2013, so I feel like it's a return home in more ways than one," Ferris added.
"As soon as I'm finished with my commitments in Europe, I will be heading home and getting to work on bringing CDR Yamaha and myself some championship wins in 2016.
