Dates announced for 2023 Walcha Motorcycle Rally
Details on the 2023 Walcha Motorcycle Rally have been released, with this year’s event to be held in the NSW Northern Tablelands town on 17 and 18 November.
First held in 2019, the Walcha Motorcycle Rally welcomes all riders and features the elements of a classic motorcycle rally, like camping, bike skills events, group rides, competitions and a swap meet. Extra attractions include stunt shows and special motorcycle demonstrations, woodchop demos, chainsaw racing, dog jumping and even a demolition derby.
All these attractions and more are part of the 2023 programme, which kicks off with registrations and opening of the rally campgrounds at the Walcha Showgrounds from Noon on Thursday, 16 November. A BMW off-road training course will be held on the 16th, too, with live music that evening for rally entrants.
On Friday, 17 November, the event hub at the showgrounds will host skills demos, a burnout comp, multi bike challenge, trade display and more, including a special display by record-setting female drag racer, Niki Zak. Guided road and adventure rides will depart from the event hub, entrants in the Australasian Women’s Ride Day will assemble and there’ll be more live music in the evening.
Saturday, 18 November is the day for the rally’s swap meet, show & shine, stunt show from Flair Action Sports, Postie Bike events, the Australasian Women’s Ride Day gathering, kids’ activities, tyre-throwing comp, demolition derby (cars, not bikes!) and more activities, plus more live music.
Rally tickets are available now and cost just $60 per person for the two days, with single day tickets available for $35, but this discounted early bird offer expires on 1 November. Kids under 16 are admitted free with a paying adult.
Camping is an additional $30 per person for up to three days, with toilets and hot showers on site at the showgrounds. If you don’t want to tent it, accommodation options are available in Walcha, as well as nearby Uralla, Armidale and Tamworth.
