CORSER IN AT YAMAHA - PITT OUT! DECEMBER 2006 - JUST BIKES

While the addition of Max Biaggi to the Suzuki SBK squad was no real surprise, the team's dropping of Troy Corser was only marginally less of a surprise than Corser's signing to the Yamaha Italia squad - at the expense of Andrew Pitt.

Following a strong second half of the season, including a debut win, Pitt thought his seat at the factory-backed team was safe. Yamaha Italia offered no solid explanations as to why they dropped Pitt, but it has been suggested they see 2005 SBK champion Corser as a more marketable personality.
No word as this issue went to press as to where Pitt may land a ride for 2007, despite recent testing for the Ilmor MotoGP project alongside fellow Aussie, Garry McCoy. Corser had his first test on the Yamaha R1 at Mugello in October.
