Coronavirus leads to postponement American MotoGP round
Originally scheduled for 3-5 April at Circuit of the Americas in Texas, the round will now take place on 13-15 November at the same venue and will be the penultimate round in the 2020 championship.
To accommodate this change, the season-ending Valencia round has been rescheduled from its original date (13-15 November) to 20-22 November.
The rescheduling of the American round follows cancellation of the Qatar race for the MotoGP class and the postponement of the Thailand round to 02-04 October, meaning the late-season ‘flyaway’ rounds have increased from three to five, with the rescheduled rounds bracketing the existing Motegi, Phillip Island and Sepang flyaway rounds.
At time of writing, the Argentine round at Termas de Rio Hondo scheduled for 17-19 April is still going ahead, but given the ever-changing nature of the coronavirus outbreak (including the rapid spread of Covid-19 in Italy and increased cases in the USA), don’t be surprised if that round is also postponed or possibly even cancelled.
