Classic TT adds new categories for 2026
The Classic TT is set for a new chapter in 2026, with two new races joining the programme - a Junior 600 Race and Ultra Lightweight Race. Both will bring fresh excitement, nostalgia and more variety in iconic racing machinery.
Running concurrently with the 2026 Manx Grand Prix on the famous Isle of Man Mountain Course, the 2026 Classic TT is scheduled to get underway on 17 August, with race week running from 24 to 28 August (subject to change).

Formula One, Historic Junior and Historic Senior races remain at the heart of the Classic TT, showcasing the best road racers in the world (John McGuinness, David Johnson and Michael Dunlop, to name a few) on a mouth-watering mix of exotic machines from the 1960s through the 1990s – Norton, Matchless, Paton, Yamaha, Ducati, Honda and many more.
The addition of new categories will expand the programme, giving fans of historic racing more to see.

Junior 600 Classic TT
Rekindling one of the most celebrated eras of road racing, the Junior 600 Classic TT will see pre-fuel injection 600cc Supersport bikes roar back onto the TT Mountain Course. In its original form, this class was dominated by greats such as Steve Hislop, Philip McCallen, Ian Simpson, Iain Duffus and Jim Moodie.
Fans can expect a lineup of ‘90s icons, including the Honda CBR600F, early Yamaha R6, Suzuki GSX-R 600, and Kawasaki ZX-6R - machines that defined the early years of Supersport racing. The class will also qualify for the Senior Classic TT, lining up alongside the Formula One and Lightweight categories in what’s sure to be an unmissable finale.

Ultra Lightweight Classic TT
Also joining the 2026 schedule is a dedicated Ultra Lightweight Classic TT. Running alongside the Lightweight Classic TT, this race will recognise 400cc Supersport machines, while also allowing 125cc two-strokes to make a return to the Mountain Course. These smaller but fiercely competitive machines will bring back the spirit of the Ultra Lightweight TT - a fan favourite that delivered unforgettable battles during the 1990s from the likes of Ian Lougher, Robert Dunlop and Joey Dunlop.

With more classes, more variety, and more nostalgia-fuelled action than ever, the 2026 Classic TT is shaping up to be a celebration of motorcycle racing history that can’t be missed.
In addition to action on the TT Mountain Course, other attractions at the Classic TT include special displays, live music, tribute laps and more. The 2026 event will include a celebration of the 30-year TT career of John McGuinness.
