Classic Callout - Can you help?
Along with the likes of Morrey Quincey, Tommy Mees and Jack McDonald, Wade was a stalwart of Victorian motorcycle racing in the late 1940s and 1950s. Wade raced with the Hartwell Club and The Harley Race Club, based in Ballarat and Brunswick, Victoria. So why are we devoting space to "Eaglebeak" in Just Bikes? Several years back, Wade's family loaned a huge number of photographs to an individual who was intending to put together a history of the Hartwell Club and its racers. Unfortunately, the individual involved and the 300+ photos, many of which were of Wade, haven't been seen since. The Wade family are trying to track down these photos, and or any others that can help in piecing together a history of their racing father. Can any Just Bikes readers out there help?
Photos, programs, race results, memorabilia, even just reminiscences from Wade's racing contemporaries would be greatly appreciated by the family.
So, if the pictures here jog your memory, and if you think you may have some similar photos tucked away in the back of your shed, please forward them to:
'Eaglebeak History' c/o Locked Bag 34, Geelong, VIC, 3220
The Just Bikes crew will forward them on to Wade's grateful family.
Good quality copies are OK, and original photos can be returned upon request.
