Chad Reed dumps Yamaha for Suzuki. October 2008
His success on an international level, including 2 AMA/World titles, is testament to his ability. His desire to support and promote grassroots racing on a local scale is admirable.
Speaking ahead of his switch to Suzuki, Reed reflected on his time with Yamaha. "It's been an amazing ride with Yamaha Motor Co.," said Reed.
"They have been awesome to me and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there over the last seven years."
"Together we have won 35 SX races, two World SX titles and two AMA SX titles, so it has been nothing less than a successful partnership."
"I am very grateful that I've had the chance to experience what it was like to be a part of a great company like Yamaha Motor Co and to have had the chance to work with some very influential people in both my professional and personal lives."
"I have nothing but respect for Keith McCarty and his staff from YMUS and Steven Cotterell and his staff from YMA - I truly thank them for all the great memories!"
"All that said, it is time for a new chapter in my life - I'm extremely excited for my next challenge."
Director/General Manager of Yamaha Motor Australia, Steve Cotterell extended his thanks to Reed on behalf of the manufacturer.
"Chad has been a great ambassador for the sport, both in Australia and abroad and we thank him for the huge success he has brought the Yamaha brand," said Cotterell.
