Bulli Antique M/C Weekend goes virtual for 2020
One of the newest, but fastest growing events on the motorcycling calendar, the Bulli weekend has been the main event for the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Australia, since the local chapter’s foundation just over four years ago.
Open to all makes and models of motorcycles 35 years old and older, the club has a diverse mix of machines under its umbrella, and with the same criteria applied to the Bulli weekend, the event has attracted an equally diverse range of classic motorcycles, too.

Last year’s Bulli Antique Motorcycle Weekend saw over 5,000 people attend, which would be impossible to repeat in 2020 under COVID-19 restrictions on interstate travel and public gatherings, so the AMCA Australia have declared this year’s event will be online only.
The AMCA Australia were pretty proactive about this change and the Bulli weekend was one of the first motorcycling events to commit to an online-only programme.
Of course, the nature of a virtual antique motorcycle weekend means major changes, with some elements of the original programme not going ahead. However, the tech talks, demonstrations, AMCA judging and auction will still proceed.
The programme will be compressed into a single day, too – Saturday, 29 August – and will be live streamed. The full schedule was still to be finalised at time of writing, but updates will be released on the AMCA Australia website – amcaaustralia.org – as they are confirmed.
Key changes for 2020 include AMCA judging limited to members’ motorcycles previously submitted for judging in 2019 and the removal of the Winners Circle category. AMCA members must also register and participate in the live stream event.
The auction will be conducted by Manshed Auctions and will be open to motorcycles, related project bikes, parts and accessories 35 years old and older, with one of the first consignments being a 1929 Harley-Davidson JDL. (to submit items for the auction, contact Keith Levy at Manshed Auctions on 0499 099 906).
