Buell is back with ‘Fuell’

A joint venture between Buell, Alfa Romeo F1 team principal and founder of Spark Racing Technology Frederic Vasseur, and entrepreneur Francois-Xavier Terny, Fuell is described as a “new urban mobility brand that brings back the pleasure of city riding.”
The founding idea of Fuell is to offer a complete selection of what the company calls innovative, electric and attractive two-wheelers that cover the needs for urban “macro-mobility” - city journeys that require a personal vehicle to cover distances greater than three miles - replacing cars and public transportation.
Unveiled in March, the initial Fuell range is split between the ‘Fluid’ and ‘Flow’ models. The Fluid is sized and styled like a bicycle, while the Flow looks more like a conventional motorcycle.
The Flow will be offered in 11kW and 35kW versions, equivalent to around 125cc and 450cc, respectively. The electric motor will be housed in the rear wheel, removing the near for a secondary drive, ie. chain or belt, while freeing up space for 50 litres of internal storage.
Range is claimed at up to 125 ‘urban’ miles, with the option to upgrade the wheel-motor, battery and charger for improved performance, range and faster recharging.

With instant acceleration and its low centre of gravity, the Flow’s handing is claimed to be excellent, with Fuell offering digital services around mobility with the bike for what they call “an enriched experience.”
Following their unveiling in March, the Fuell Flow and its Fluid prototypes will be available for testing in April, with first sales for the US market later this year, starting with the Fluid, followed the Flow in 2021.
List pricing is $10,995 for the Flow (US$3,295 for the Fluid), with the Fuell business model aimed at ‘usage’ over ‘ownership’, so credit, bike leasing and battery leasing will be favoured over outright purchase.
