Bryan Staring gets a WSBK lifeline
Team Grillini announced on May 12 that Fabrizio would not ride for them for the remainder of the 2014 season. Staring's appointment was announced on the same day.
After injuring himself during the official test at Phillip Island in February, Fabrizio returned for the Aragon round (Round 2), and had started six races (Aragon, Assen and Imola) with a best result of 14th in the only encounter he was able to complete (Assen Race 2).
A double DNF (mechanical, not accident) at Imola appeared to be the last straw for both parties, who mutually agreed to part ways after that round.
In contrast, Fabrizio's IRON BRAIN Grillini Kawasaki team mate, Sheridan Morais, has started all eight races so far this season and completed seven of them, with a best result of13th (Aragon Race 2 and Assen Race 2), which place him around mid-pack in the EVO class.
Staring's ride with Grillini is, at this stage, for the remainder of the 2014 season. The Aussie's first ride on the Grillini EVO spec Kawasaki ZX-10R will be at the Donington WSBK round (on May 25).
