Australian WorldSBK round for 2024 locked in
Dates for the Australian round of the 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship have been confirmed, with the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit to host next year’s season opener on 23-25 February. Grand Ridge Brewery have once again signed on as naming rights sponsor, with support from the Victorian government.
The opening round will present the first opportunity for fans to see the likes of Jonathan Rea, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Nicolo Bulega, Michael Rinaldi, Axel Bassani and others race in new colours, as well as the WorldSBK debuts of Andrea Iannone, Sam Lowes and Adam Norrodin. The 2024 Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round will also mark the first step in Alvaro Bautista’s attempt at a championship three-peat.
WorldSBK Executive Director Gregorio Lavilla says the abundance of rider movements and new arrivals means the 2024 Australian round will mark the start of an exciting phase in the category’s history.
“We are delighted to return to the historic Phillip Island Circuit for the opening round of the 2024 WorldSBK season. Phillip Island has been a cornerstone in WorldSBK’s storied history, and we anticipate that this event will mark the beginning of a momentous new chapter following significant changes to the grid.”
The coming year will mark the 33rd time World Superbikes has raced at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, with the run of consecutive annual visits to the island that started in 1990 only broken by a COVID-19 cancellation in 2021. As in past years, Phillip Island will also host the final WorldSBK pre-season test, which for 2024 is scheduled for 19-20 February.
With three races for World Superbike, two for World Supersport and a programme of national supports, all three days of the Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round will be action packed. There’s plenty to see and experience off-track, too, as well as trackside camping, plenty of food and drink options and more.
Tickets are now on sale for Bar SBK, campground and VIP hospitality experiences, with general admission tickets to be available soon.
