Arqin V3 250
However, as it uses a clutchless automatic transmission, it has come to be regarded as part of the scooter family.
OK, it's not exactly brand new, but since its debut late last year, the V3 has attracted a lot of attention, not least for its distinctive styling, that combines two different motorcycling genres.
At last year's round of Motorcycle Expos, JUST BIKES couldn't fail to notice that the V3 was constantly surrounded by admirers.
Compared to traditional scooters, the V3 offers a bit more 'oomph' and a lot more presence. The former is achieved through a smooth-changing 250cc engine that can pull up to 120kmh in top gear. For the latter, simply take a look at the pictures shown here!
The lack of a clutch may take a little getting used to by riders used to gear changes, as would the handlebar-operated rear brake, but I'm sure most would adapt to the change! Disc brakes front and rear with 2-pot calipers offer plenty of stopping power.
Think sound systems and most think a hulking big Goldwing or similar, but the V3 offers some very beefy audio power in a much more compact package. The system is MP3 compatible, too, so plug your music player in and you can ride to your favourite tunes.
Cruiser enthusiasts will appreciate the low seat height and proliferation of "bling" chrome trim, including the paintwork-saving leg guards.
The V3 may defy categorisation, but not rider enjoyment. The best way to decide if it's the right bike for you is to take it for a test ride.
