American Chopper - Down Under!
Now, the Orange County Choppers team of Paul Teutel Sr and Paul Jr - made famous through the Discovery Channel series 'American Chopper' - are bringing their larger-than-life personalities to Australia for a special, three-part instalment of the next series of American Chopper.
In conjunction with Tourism Australia's "Global Programs" initiative, the Teutels will spend two weeks down under in February, experiencing all that Australia has to offer. They'll also be looking for inspiration for a special 'Down Under-themed' chopper that will be designed and built in a special three-part series that will air in the US in the second quarter of 2007.
Paul Sr., Paul Jr. and the rest of the Orange County Choppers (OCC) crew are no strangers to Australian audiences. Since the series first aired in Australia in 2004, it has achieved cult status and a huge fan base.
For their Australian trip, the OCC team, headed by Paul Sr., will be making stopovers at various locations to seek inspiration for their latest bike. The cameras will follow the Teutels during this "working vacation", and their experiences Down Under will be aired on Discovery Networks worldwide. Following the February visit, the Teutels will return to the United States to design and produce the Australia-themed bike, which will eventually be sold at a charity auction following a tour across the United States. American Chopper fans and motorcycle enthusiasts can also look forward to meeting the Teutels in person at a consumer event in Australia, which will be announced at a later date.
To coincide with the Teutels' visit to Australia, Discovery Channel will premiere two unseen American Chopper episodes, the 'Bloopers Special' and 'Make a Wish Bike' on Sunday, February 18 at 7:30pm.
Keep an eye out for the Teutels - let's face it, they're hard to miss! - at your nearest Australian landmark this February. Look for the American Chopper Down Under special on the Discovery Channel sometime after March 2007.
