ALL NEW Suzuki Boulevard C109R. October 2008
"The new Suzuki Boulevard C109R is set to cause a stir; combining the high performance delivered by advanced Suzuki technology with the clean, sweeping good looks of a classic cruiser," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.
Redefining the term 'broad powerband', the Suzuki's 1783cc, DOHC, 54 degree V-Twin powerplant delivers impressive torque throughout the rev range.
Huge 112mm forged aluminium pistons are among the largest reciprocating engine pistons of any production passenger car or motorcycle in the world, with race-proven design reducing friction and internal mass.
Strong throttle response is aided by the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve fuel injection system, and a powerful 32-bit engine management system.
Reducing overall engine height and creating a lower centre of gravity, the Boulevard C109R has a unique new two stage cam drive system, compact cylinder head design and the Suzuki Advanced Sump System.
Crank inertia of the Suzuki is increased by 20%, resulting in increased torque delivery at low speed and reduced vibration throughout the entire RPM range, while a dual spark per cylinder ignition system improves combustion efficiency.
A new Idle Speed Control (ISC) system helps maintain a stable idle speed and improves cold starting.
With carefully selected gear ratios and a strong, multi-plate clutch, a five-speed transmission delivers comfortable cruising in a variety of riding situations.
The Suzuki's 2-into-1-into-2 stainless steel chromed exhaust system features the digitally controlled Suzuki Exhaust Timing system to produce optimum engine performance and a distinctive V-Twin sound.
Designed to handle the Boulevard C109R's power while delivering agile handling and a smooth ride, it has a high tensile, double cradle steel frame.
On the open road or in the city, the Boulevard C109R delivers a comfortable ride, with 130mm of front wheel travel and 118mm of rear wheel travel. Telescopic front forks feature thick chrome tube covers, while the rear swingarm incorporates a preload adjustable shock absorber.
A new combined braking system applies the rear brake and partial front brake when the rear brake lever is applied.
The front end features dual 290mm floating brake discs, with a single 275mm rear disc brake, both developed using technology from Suzuki's proven GSX-R sports bikes.
New cast aluminium alloy, 10-spoke wheels include a massive 8 inch by 16 inch rear wheel which houses a wide 240mm Bridgestone radial tyre.
The Boulevard C109R cuts an impressive figure, sporting new pull back type handlebars with a deep chrome plated finish and a stunning wide design, chrome-plated and aluminium highlighted engine details, and long volume, handcrafted steel fenders with rolled edges.
Highlighting the sweeping lines of the Boulevard C109R, a wide, 19-litre fuel tank offers an extended touring range and is topped by a chrome instrument cluster, with an analogue speedometer, LCD odometer and trip meter, clock, fuel gauge and indicator lights.
Completing the classic cruiser look, the Suzuki is fitted with a 180mm multi-reflector halogen headlight encased in classic chromed housing, bright bullet-shaped turn signals and an LED tail light.
Available in Pearl Black and Cherry Red liveries, the all new Suzuki Boulevard C109R cruiser has RRP of $17,990 (+ORCs).
