Alanna's Adventures for a Cause
Whilst her adventures across and around Australia are epic in themselves, author Alanna Gayko was motivated to record her experiences with the aim of promoting a very important cause. A decade ago, Alanna encountered a young boy, Jordan Anderson, whose life was profoundly affected by Batten Disease, a devastating genetic disorder which usually manifests in childhood. This little-known condition rendered Jordan blind and unable to communicate in any way, stirring Alanna's compassion and determination to create awareness and raise funds for a treatment or cure.
All profits from the book go directly to assist children suffering from Batten Disease through the Australian Chapter of the Batten Disease Support Research Association (BDSRA). The Perils of Motorcycling is priced at $15 and is available for purchase at www.battens.org.au or from outlets in Coffs Harbour and Newcastle.
