2014 Australian Supercross calendar announced
Victoria, New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Queensland will host Australia's premier dirt bike series between September and November, with the 2014 championship running one less round than this year's series.
The championship will open in Darwin on September 20, then return to NSW after a year's hiatus. The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will host rounds thee and four as a double-header, with Queensland to host the final round on November 1.
Series organisers, IEG say the 2013 championship was well received by riders, sponsors and spectators, with one of the key highlights being battles between Australian riders Matt Moss and Luke Styke and Americans Josh Hill and Gavin Faith, where the Aussies triumphed in both Pro Open and Pro Lites classes.
After finishing second behind Styke in the Pro Lites class in 2013, Faith has confirmed he will return to Australia for the 2014 series, but whether he'll run Pro Open or Pro Lites is yet to be decided.
"I have had a great time these past three years and I really hope to be able to race in Australia for a long time coming. The people are great, the atmosphere at the events is like America and the food is good!" Faith said.
IEG extended their thanks to competitors, teams, sponsors, Northern Territory Major Events, Australian Gran Prix Corporation and Mt Gambier Council for their support in 2013.
Further details on the 2014 championship will be released by IEG as they are confirmed.
Motorcycling Australia and IEG are working on reducing the costs for participants across the entire championship and finalising travel subsides and options for the opening round in Darwin.
