2013 Phillip Island Superbikes date announced
Following a $3 million resurfacing of the track, which will commence in December, the World Superbike Championship will be the first international championship event to be held at the circuit. The AMCN International Island Classic will 'break in' the new surface in January.
As in past years, teams will arrive at the Island early to undergo the final pre-season test session, usually held a week prior to the season opener. Riders will be keen to make their mark on the new bitumen, with times set to fall and record-breaking performances expected on the new smoother surface.
Given that the Superbike World Championship has been ultra-competitive this year, the 2013 championship title chase is sure to be just as intense, and just how much of an impact the new surface will have on the opening round is something both riders and fans will no doubt be looking forward to.
Tickets for Australia's opening round of the 2013 Superbike World Championship are set to go on sale in late August. Stay tuned on www.worldsbk.com.au for all the details.
