2012 Phillip Island 8 Hour cancelled

Despite extending the closing time for entries there are insufficient competitors registered to conduct the event.

"We had hoped to build a tradition with this event at Phillip Island in much the same way as the long standing MotoGP, Superbike World Championship and the Island Classic," Fergus Cameron, the Managing Director of Phillip Island Circuit, said.

"Despite our best efforts the response has been very slow, possibly due to the current economic times. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes to competitors who had already entered."

The release went on to say that Phillip Island Circuit management would continue to explore opportunities for new motorcycle events in the future.
