I acquired this bike about ten years ago after it had been stored many years. It was sold to me by a seller's agent as a 1981 model and, as you see, it wears 1981 colours. However I have another 1981 900SS and there are important differences that make me think this one is actually a 1980 model. Most likely it is a crossover model between both years. It has the Bosch engine management system of those years, 40mm Dellortos and Conti sound amplifiers. It usually starts first kick and sounds marvelous. In my years of ownership I have not had to do much to it. A new rectifier/regulator, a few years ago, carburettor servicing, new Michelin tyres in recent months, a new motobat battery, original rear shocks serviced, brake cylinders and calipers re-rubbered. Condition is very original and very good. It is not a resto queen and will appeal to a buyer looking for originality. There's lovely patina, without bangs or breaks or scrapes. Never restored, just kept very well. Everything works like it should. A serious bike to ride. It is part of a small collection. I am nearly eighty and I can't take my bikes with me where I'm going and I have begun the process of making the collection more manageable. It makes no sense any more to have two of anything. Instead it is timely to let someone else have the pleasure and pride of its ownership. The bike can be viewed in the Blayney area of the Central West of NSW (south west of Bathurst).
