Seller's Description
1976 Evel Knievel Stratocycle. In the 70’s there was no one other legend like Evel Knievel, the king of danger and risk. 1977 Knievel made the move from the show ground stunts to Hollywood & the silver screen. His first acting role was the now cult classic Viva Knievel! The movie plays out like any good 1970s-era celluloid caper. There are goodies, baddies, stunts, kidnappings, beautiful women, car chases, and gunfights. Perhaps the most memorable scene is the one that introduces Evel’s Stratocycle, a customized Harley-Davidson Sportster XLCH with a unique fairing, fuel tank, seat, and rear cowl that is possibly the most American thing that has ever sat atop two wheels. Evel played a fictional version of himself in the film and perhaps unsurprisingly some of Hollywood’s biggest names lined up to accompany him on screen, including Gene Kelly, Leslie Nielsen, Red Buttons, Lauren Hutton, and Marjoe Gortner. Throughout the late-1970s, a toy version of the Stratocycle was sold by the Ideal Toy Company. This model version could be sent flying through the air from its dedicated launcher and today it’s one of the rarest and most highly sought after toys from the Knievel line.
