Seller's Description
OMG “Winnie” is a Masterpiece and she has just benefitted from a $4,000 major service and re-commission following years of being enjoyed as part of a collection where she was regularly started and serviced. Recent work included new fork seals, all new bonded and steel clutch plates and her headlight upgraded to a new halogen bulb system so seeing at night makes riding a joy after dark. She had previously had her ignition system upgraded to electronic and acceptable upgrade for classic bikes from her original points and with fresh new spark plugs, valve clearances re set, primary gaskets and many hours of fettling the Mikuni Carbs, her health was pronounced as outstanding, by the boys a Taverner Motorsports. With plenty of equal compression in both cylinders, more than adequate power and torque produced, it is a clear indication from how she rides and the way she produces power, Winnie has had cam and bore work done in the previously before coming into our custody. Having benefitted from the attention lavished on her, Winnie is now ready to be ridden and enjoyed again.
Excellent Dunlop period correct tyres adorn her lustrous deep black painted and fully refurbished rims which present like brand new. Paint across the entire bike produces a deep shine which takes you back to the way paint was applied back in the day. Aluminium parts of the engine and forks all in excellent condition with a nice patina and chrome parts are all in good condition. Standard tacho and speedo are complimented by an engine oil pressure gauge which always shows a healthy reading, replacing the original engine oil light. Chopped down and blacked out front guard, is both legal and nice, while the earlier model round side covers, suggest a touch of Steve McQueen. Indicators are minimalist LEDs which tidy up the turn signal situation very neatly. Foot controls are mounted via sweet billet aluminium mounts and work very nicely tying in with original linkages.
Finished off in the typical café racer style of the day, with café style seat and clip on handlebars, the riding position is relaxed, yet sporty with good control. The sound from her Parallel twin exiting through the twin megaphone exhausts behind each ear is truly a delight and tidy stopping by the later model front and rear disc upgrade is always a satisfactory non concern. Winnie is easy to fall in love with and a real delight to ride. She is balanced, responsive, composed and represents outstanding value. Winnie would make a great regular club ride, legendary café racer or stunning addition to any motorcycle enthusiasts collection and comes with a QLD safety certificate.
