Seller's Description
Manufacture Date 12/70 VIN. CB750-1071538 ENG. CB750E-1071923 Genuine 68 Miles
This bike is from my personal collection and is regretfully offered for sale.
This bike was purchased new in May of 1971 from Bud and Carolyn Beck of Sport City Motorcycles in Creve Coeur, Illinois by Lester Fitzgerald and his wife to replace their year old Suzuki T-500. Mr Fitzgerald rode it to two local club events before he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He died shortly thereafter and the bike remained untouched sitting in their garage with 52 miles on it until Mrs Fitzgerald died in 1995. A local collector bought it (and the T-500) from the estate. He changed the plugs, oil and oil filter and brought it back to life and rode it another 15 miles before parking it with his other bikes. In 2004 it was sold to the St Louis Car Museum where it was on static display until I purchased it in March last year. It remained in its totally original state with 68 miles on it with an extra mile having been added by the Museum and yours truly. It is an absolute time capsule in remarkably well preserved condition.
The candy garnett brown paintwork is in great condition. The headlight case has some slight fading, the fuel tank is perfect with absolutely no rust inside. The seat is in perfect condition and everything works as it should.
Gauges are bright and obviously never been in the sun. The Tool Kit has been safely stored under the seat since new. Everything feels crisp and sharp as a new bike should. The Original Bridgestone tyres are still fitted. Bridgestone Superspeed 21R2 4.00-18 on the rear and Bridgestone Superspeed 21F2 3.25-19 on the front. Both tyres are in excellent condition, but I would not recommend any long distance touring due to their age.
All chromework is great. There is some minor pitting on the rear wheel and handlebars (see photos).
I replaced the battery and had the bike serviced by Castle Hill Motorcycles. Inline fuel filters fitted, points checked and timing set, spark plugs replaced, carbs removed, stripped and cleaned. The mixtures set, oil and oil filter changed, front fork oil and hydraulic oil replaced.
The bike was never re-registered following the death of its original owner and still carries its original Illinois license plate and original title.
Included is the original Certificate of Title, U.S. Bill of Sale and all Government and Customs paperwork.
I will consider offers of a Honda CB350 Four or CB500 Four as part payment.
This bike is in EXCEPTIONAL condition for being 40 years old and with that kind of miles, it should be! For those of you looking for the real thing ...it doesn't get any more authentic than this bike, and you will not find one with lower miles on it. Don't miss this once in a lifetime chance to own a K1 this rare and nice! Video available.
