Seller's Description
BSA Mk II Spitfire with less than 6.000 miles on her. This bike comes with a fully-documented pedigree, with a list of all five owners, a photo of the original owner on the bike, the original UK green registration card, plus copies of the original sale receipt, and MOT documents over the years showing the very low mileage. The MOT documents appear to verify the odometer reading showing the bike has done less than 6,000 miles since new. The PO confirmed this too - apparently the bike spent over thirty years disassembled in boxes in owner #3’s sister’s roof cavity. When I bought the bike in the UK several years ago it had only recently had a ground-up restoration during which ( from receipts I was given by the seller) the following was done: New valve inserts, new valve springs and guides, new standard-size pistons ( no bore wear) with 9:1 compression, SRM high volume oil pump, Thunder Engineering billet con rods, SRM pressure release valve, SRM magnetic sump plate, primary chain, clutch plates, SRM clutch pressure plate with needle roller, gearbox sprocket , new big end shells bearings and seals (standard size as there was no wear on the crank), new fork stanchions and oil seal holders, wiring loom , Pazon electronic ignition, solid state rectifier, front and rear wheel bearings, front and rear brake shoes, rear chain, tyres and tubes, Surflex clutch plates. GP carbs replaced with new Concentrics. The bike will come with its original UK registration plate. I have not put many miles on the bike since then. Only ridden on good-weather days. Since buying the bike I replaced the cheap Indian tank with a beautiful new Tab 2 made-in-England alloy 5 gallon tank. The tank and side covers were then repainted to match. I’ve fitted an anti wet-sump valve, luggage rack, and “Napoleon”handlebar mirrors. The front brake pads were machined so there is now 100% contact with the drum. The drive-side crankcase cover is not Mk II original, it is the later type with an inspection plate, but many early Spitfires were so modified to ease servicing. The bike is in what I would describe as excellent condition but not concours. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a very low mileage ready-to-ride Spitfire with a fully documented history. $16,000. I will consider a lower offer if sensible. Note. On club plates so will be sold unregistered and no RWC, but inspection will show it is in roadworthy condition. NOTE: PLEASE ONLY PHONE BETWEEN 12 MIDDAY AND 6PM.
