Yamaha adds FJR 1300E to 2014 touring range
Via a handlebar-mounted switch, the rider can select four main suspension settings - One-Up, One-Up with Luggage, Two-Up and Two-Up with Luggage - as well as three additional damping settings - Soft, Standard and Hard.
These twelve pre-defined suspension settings can also be managed manually, so riders can fine-tune the set-up to best suit the road and their load.
The system links to front and rear suspension, and to ensure it works at its best, the FJR 1300E adds USD front forks similar to the YZF-R1, with separate damper mechanisms - compression in the left fork and rebound in the right. Yamaha says this split function is crucial to the electronic control operation being able to work to its best, especially under hard and sustained use.
The rest of the FJR's mechanicals, including the 1298cc inline 4-cylinder engine, 5-sped transmission and shaft drive, are unaltered.
The FJR 1300E is now available from Yamaha dealers for $26,999RRP (+ ORCs), a $2,000 premium over the standard model. Price includes a 24-month, unlimited kms, parts and labour warranty.
