The Panther Trike. October 2007
The Panther Trike comes in two standard designs, the two seater tourer "WildCat" (pictured bottom right) and the naked "Sportster" (top & above right - note the bodywork differences between the two styles).
In no way are either of these trikes a bodgy-framed, converted VW. Each is a fully compliant package that is hand built using the best materials and engineering techniques available to suit each customer's specific needs.
Panther encourage each customer to be intimately involved in the design and construction of their trike. It's this very personal relationship that Panther believes goes a long way to ensure total owner satisfaction. From the footrails - in chrome or powder coat, to the exhaust systems, colours, towbars, highway gearboxes, even down to individually styling the hand made seats, Panther Trikes offer a level of personalisation that not only make each unit special, but also ensure you are unlikely to see any two Panthers the same.
Standard features that make across the Panther Engineering trike range are solid chrome girder forks with progressive springs, a fully powder-coated monocoque chassis, engine immobiliser and neatly integrated 50-litre fuel tank.
Defining the Panther Trike is a unique Australian-made 1916cc motor, that is both powerful and easy to handle.
The trikes are available with a choice of auto or manual four-speed gearbox operated through a left foot clutch and hand gear change.
As the engine is so good, only the first three gears are used, with the first gear locked out for fewer gear changes on the ride.
Befitting the Panther's bold style are wide 295mm rear tyres and a tall 130/90 x 16 front tyre that ensures a Panther trike will stick to the road through any corner.
"On the twistys, the Panther will push you all the way, and the Panther can take a corner faster than any normal bike rider with only limited Trike time", Josef proudly stated.
While performance and handling are first class, so too is the comfort of passenger and rider. The rear suspension includes Firestone airbags and Munro shocks, while the seats are designed to cushion any bumps.
Josef has been building trikes for over 18 years and has an eye for detail and an insatiable desire for perfection. It should come as no surprise then that the overall finish of each unit is immaculate. Chrome is everywhere with thick bars holding 'Harley like' indicators and controls, and clever features such as an automatic indicator timer that turns off after 30 seconds. Panther-branded speedo and tacho gauges sit snugly in the centre of the 6" fork risers and really look the part.
All up, the Panther is an outstanding trike, offering two-up cruising in comfort and safety at highway speeds. Interested customers should view the web page www.panthertrikes.com where you can see the full range of Panther products and extras.
The Panther is easy to ride and does not require a bike licence in NSW.
