M/C Holdings take on Indian franchises
On 13 February, Polaris announced they had entered an agreement with publicly-listed company MotorCycle Holdings Ltd to retail the Indian Motorcycle brand through six dealerships in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Australia’s largest motorcycle dealer group, M/C Holdings Ltd owns more than 30 dealerships, mostly under the ‘TeamMoto’ banner, in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT. In 2017, M/C Holdings purchased several Harley-Davidson dealerships, as well as motorcycle accessories wholesaler Cassons and their MCAS retail operation.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Australia’s premier retailer of motorcycles, MotorCycle Holdings, as we write the next exciting chapter for Indian Motorcycle in Australia,” said Alan Collins, Managing Director of Polaris Australia & New Zealand.
“Both Indian Motorcycle and MotorCycle Holdings share the same vision for the premium experience and service expected by Indian Motorcycle customers, with a commitment to continue the brand experience which has been cultivated through our company-owned dealerships over the past years.”
M/C Holdings dealerships in Springwood and Nerang (QLD), Penrith and Auburn (NSW), Keilor East and Dandenong (VIC) will represent Indian Motorcycle in the near future, with plans to transfer staff from the company-owned dealerships to these new outlets.
What existing independent Indian dealers will be impacted by the agreement with M/C Holdings has not been confirmed. Plans for the Perth corporate-owned store are similarly unconfirmed, but Indian Motorcycle say an announcement on both Perth and the rest of its dealer network is pending.
