Off the back of David Walsh’s victory in the bike class at this year’s 50th Anniversary running of the Tattersalls Finke Desert Race, Honda Australia has announced the CRF450RX ‘Finke Limited Edition’. Inspired by the Honda Factory Racing CRF450RX that Walsh rode to victory this June - his sixth and Honda’s 21st – this special edition motorcycle is due for release soon.

Honda has a long history at Finke and remains the most successful manufacturer in the bike division with 21 victories. Alan Roe delivered Honda’s first win in 1988, kicking off a run of mostly uninterrupted success from the likes of Randall Gregory, Stephen Greenfield, Ben Grabham and others that lasted two decades. Since 2009, KTM has been the dominant manufacturer at Finke, with Honda’s only victories in the past 16 years being 2013 and this year.

Based on the 2025-model CRF450RX, the Finke Limited Edition is mechanically unchanged from the standard model, with the same 449cc single, five-speed gearbox, suspension, wheels and brakes, but comes with a special livery and a selection of premium features as standard. These include an HGS stainless steel exhaust system and IMS 12-litre fuel tank, replacing the factory 8-litre tank. The special edition is also fitted with a commemorative Finke 50th Anniversary SKDA graphics kit and seat cover inspired by the livery on Walsh’s factory bike. Honda says these “endurance racing inspired” accessories are valued at a combined $3,500.

“The Finke Desert Race has been an important part of Honda’s off-road racing story here in Australia for decades, and this special edition model celebrates that connection,” said Chris Schultz, General Manager - Powersports and Products at Honda Australia.
“The CRF450RX Finke Limited Edition pays tribute to one of Australia’s most iconic motorsport events, and we’re excited to offer riders the opportunity to own a unique piece of Honda’s racing history.”

Pricing for the MY25 CRF450RX Finke Limited Edition is $16,399 RRP, which is a $1,300 premium over ride away pricing for the base CRF450RX at time of writing. Production will be limited, so see your Honda dealer for more information and to order.
