The next development of Cardo’s Packtalk Edge, the Packtalk Pro adds key upgrades, like larger JBL speakers and the latest generation Dynamic Mesh Communication for group rides, along with all-new crash detection and auto on/off functions.
This is on top of existing features that include communication for up to 15 riders, music sharing, private chat, voice operation, voice call answering, OTA software updates, the ability to run two devices in parallel and even connect to other brands of motorcycle communication systems.
NEW – Crash Detection
The Packtalk Pro’s Crash Detection function works like an SOS beacon. Smart IMU sensors within the main device recognise the forces involved in a crash and automatically send a pre-set message (via the Cardo Connect app) to the rider’s emergency contact. This provides the rider’s location and advises them to call emergency services.
The alert can be disengaged by the rider if the crash is minor and emergency services aren’t required.
NEW – Auto On/Off
Once the Cardo Packtalk Pro is attached, it automatically turns on and connects to your phone when it detects the motion of you putting your helmet on. Conversely, set your helmet down and the Packtalk Pro automatically turns itself off.
This eliminates fiddling if you forget to turn the device on until you’re on the road, or forgetting to turn it off at the end of a ride.
NEW – JBL Speaker upgrade
While the Packtalk Neo and Edge have employed 40mm JBL speakers, the Packtalk Pro introduces 45mm speakers. These larger speakers include an advanced sound processor, ensuring optimum sound quality.
JBL speakers have been part of the Cardo range since the Freecom 2x and this latest version ups the ante, allowing your preferred tunes or the radio (up to six stations can be stored in the memory) to be heard with greater clarity.
Better Communication
Underpinning the Cardo Packtalk Pro’s functionality for group rides is second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC). This provides for easy grouping amongst equipped riders, without the need to repair the Bluetooth signal if it’s lost. Similarly, the Packtalk Pro will automatically reconnect a rider who returns within range.
Up to 15 riders can be supported, with rider-to-rider range of up to 1.6km and DMC group range of up to 8km.
Compact, Discreet, Tough and Practical.
The Cardo Packtalk Pro is a compact 84mm x 23mm x 46mm (LxWxH) and its matte black exterior makes it subtle (speakers measure 45mm x 10mm). Weighing just 47g, the main device’s magnetic ‘Air Mount’ attaches to any full-face or modular helmet. It’s IP67 waterproof rated and can operate in extreme temperatures, too, from -20° to 55°C.
Voice activation makes the Packtalk Pro easy to operate, and once fully charged, there’s up to 13 hours’ talk time, with charge for up to 10 days in standby mode.
The Cardo Packtalk Pro is now available from good motorcycle accessory stockists, priced from $799.95 RRP. This includes the main device, speakers, microphone and everything needed for installation.
