2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 arrives
Coupled with an all new twin exhaust system, Suzuki's new champion 1000cc sportsbike is the most powerful, responsive and clean running open class motorcycle the marque has ever produced. "Suzuki's engineers have combined the world's most successful open class, production based race bike with the latest in technology and design to make the GSX-R1000 even more powerful and more responsive on the road or the racetrack," Glyn Griffiths, National Marketing Manager - Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said. Improved power, torque and acceleration are generated by a new 999cc, four-stroke, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine featuring a new, more compact fuel injection system incorporating Suzuki's Dual Throttle Valve System (SDTV). Equipped with an engine management system four times more powerful than the previous version, riders are now able to select one of three engine settings to suit riding
conditions, using a handlebar mounted switch. Producing consistent idle quality, a new Idle Speed Control (ISC) system improves cold starts and reduces emissions, while an oxygen sensor combines with the under engine catalyser for a
further reduction in emissions.
The GSX-R1000's close ratio, slick shifting, six-speed transmission with an adjustable back torque limiting clutch delivers smooth downshifts complimented by a self adjusting hydraulic clutch.
Suzuki's advanced suspension system delivers crisp user friendly handling, using a new, electronically controlled, steering damper to adjust damping force. The GSX-R1000's impressive horsepower is matched by its stopping power featuring new 310mm front disc brakes with radial mounted four-piston calipers working in conjunction with a single-piston caliper rear-disc, which is mounted above the swingarm to reduce the effect of braking on the rear suspension.
Wind tunnel developed, the GSX-R's new bodywork features aggressive new styling, reduced frontal area and a taller windscreen for optimum aerodynamic performance, while maintaining maximum rider mobility.
The 2007 GSX-R1000 is now available with Suzuki's two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, in a choice of colours at an RRP of $18,990.
