Mostly original SR500 that hasn’t been chopped or fiddled about. Bike was restored in the early 2000s in which it was given a new candy red paint job, new chrome, Hagon shocks, alloy polished, new stainless silencer and the engine was restored. I believe the fenders were re chromed, headlight is off a vintage Suzuki and the bulky indicators were removed as they are not needed in the UK. I used this bike as a daily commute when I was living in London and brought it back with me to Australia because I loved how it rode, just like an electric BMX. Unfortunately, it's not been ridden or registered since my return and I have other bikes so it’s unlikely to get the attention it deserves. The bike is rock solid with loads of compression in the engine, it usually starts on 1st or 2nd kick provided you know what you are doing. :-) There is an enormous amount of toque in the bike that lifts the front wheel which is pretty awesome considering it is L(earner) approved! LOL The engine has remained stock so no messing with carburettors and it has the stock airbox which is far more superior than the fashionable K&N pods people are putting on to ‘improve’ performance. The bad points, it has unfortunately been dropped so there are some scratches on the gauges, headlight and a dent in the tank that has ruined the beautiful candy paint. These bad points are why I am not asking 6+k for an otherwise beautiful and clean SR500. This is perfect to ride today, or for low effort restoration or if your heart desires a custom, but it would be a shame to chop the frame etc… Buyers choice. Starts and rides, but I am not selling with RWC as I do not have the time to fit indicators so the bike is priced accordingly. I’ll throw in a new Haynes manual, and if I can find them a crank puller and new head gasket. Look at the pictures and you’ll see this is a fine example with a super clean SR500 that was well cared in its life. I’ve owned it since 2012 and it’s been garaged whilst in my care. This is a no brainer summer project or trusty vintage ride.
